21 Savage, born Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph on October 22, 1992, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Raised in the East Atlanta neighborhood of Decatur, Georgia, he initially gained attention for his debut mixtape The Slaughter Tape (2015). His debut studio album Issa Album (2017) reached number two on the US Billboard 200 chart. He has since released the extended plays Savage Mode (2016) with Metro Boomin and Without Warning (2017) with Offset and Metro Boomin.
Savage’s first major music project was The Slaughter Tape (2015). The tape featured production from Sonny Digital, Metro Boomin and Zaytoven and was supported by the single “Skrrt Skrrt”. The mixtape earned him a record deal with Epic Records and afterward he signed to British rapper Skepta’s label Boy Better Know.
His debut studio album Issa Album was released on July 7, 2017, and debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart. It featured the singles “Bank Account” and “X”.
